Why do you write?
My answer:
I write because writing makes me fly.
I write because I feel I can help others fly by sharing my work.
This is why, when you open The Great Lenore, you see the words, "Dear Reader, read this and fly."
This is why I write.
You?
Play nice and share with others

ReplyDeleteI write because it's fun and it keeps my imagination alive. I love my imagination.
ReplyDeleteI write because it's a tapestry. The writer sees all the knots and lines and faults on one side, but the reader sees the whole picture on the other where there's lots of "oohing" ad "aahing" as they take it all in.

Adam - I love this! So true.
ReplyDeleteI write because words and creativity create oxygen in my world, and I’m told we need that to breathe.
ReplyDeleteI write WHAT I write because no administrator, politician, board, budget, or recession can take away that classroom away from me.
The only answer I have ever been able to come up with is, because I have to. It’s what I do, what I am. It sounds tacky, but it’s true. I’ve always made up stories, I’ve always scribbled, though I’ve only taken it seriously the last year and a half, and am still unpublished. It is a part of me, and that will remain true, even if I am never published.
ReplyDeleteWriting frees me. When the words flow, when the edits work, when I find the misplaced piece of the puzzle and shift it into place, there is no better feeling. There are few worse when the words catch and halt and I hate everything on the page. But I know this is what I should be doing. I have other strengths and skills, but writing is the only thing I can imagine doing for the rest of my life.
Simply put, I would be lost without it.
