Tomorrow's post will be all about me.

And so, today's post is all about others. This "others" includes you.

[Typing the word "others" with quotation marks around it reminded me of a marginally funny story - I'll post the links to these five great sites first, and then I'll tell you the story. I hereby give you permission to read the story if you want to.]

[The aforementioned marginally funny story]
A long time ago, when I was but a young lad, I was with a buddy of mine at some sort of something where we had to fill out information about ourselves. My buddy was Korean. The available boxes under "Ethnicity" included: White, African-American, Hispanic, Native American, some others, and Other. My buddy and I were surprised that "Asian" was not an available option, but he said, "I guess I'm an Other." And he checked that box. From that point forward, I referred to him as my Other brother.

Ha! - Other...

Like I said: Marginally funny.

  1. Great suggestions ... and, as the mom of an adopted Chinese child, I totally get the flummoxed feeling your friend had. Just this year for the Census, I wondered, "Which box should I check for our household?"

  5. Cari - I LOVE the way Write It Sideways looks. I told Suzannah, I wish I could carry it around in my pocket with me. As for Blue The Person...1) Thanks so much for asking! 2) I can't talk about it yet, because I've found that the more I talk about a project while working on it, the more difficult the work becomes. I think the first draft will be finished by the end of summer, though, and then I certainly plan to update. Sorry for the wait, but stick around! Your patience will pay off!
