I'm not sure why. If you think about it (that is, if I think about it), pirates...well, kind of weren't very nice. They kind of, you know, killed and robbed and raped and stuff.
My girlfriend loves pirates also. So does my sister.
What is it about pirates?
I'm not talking about modern pirates, either - modern pirates suck. I'm talking about old-school pirates. Real pirates.
Why do we all love pirates?
They adventured all the time. That's pretty awesome. They drank lots of rum and said "Arrrrrgh!" They swashbuckled (did they swashbuckle?). They lived on islands and on boats.
I would love to live on islands and on boats! Maybe that's why I love pirates.
Hey, maybe pirates weren't so bad.
Maybe pirates are just...misunderstood.

Maybe pirates lived long enough ago that we can have romantic notions about them! The story-book pirates are great and romantic but the real ones were the terrorists of the day.
